It’s the moment that makes a difference.
It’s the key that separates victory from defeat, or leaves an indelible memory.
It’s the Play of the Day.
In this case, for Friday, Sept. 30, the Play of the Day came from West Linn’s Sam Leavitt — a senior quarterback — during his team’s 49-0 win over Lake Oswego at West Linn High School.
The Lions took control early on Friday, recovering a Lake Oswego fumble on the Lakers’ first series, then scoring in just three plays. Senior running back Koffi Kouame ran twice for 10 yards, and from there, Leavitt rolled right, reversed field and hit senior wide receiver Mark Hamper for a 36-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead that turned out to be the winning score in the contest.
