Ryan Oliver made the Play of the Day at the end of the Pacers’ loss to Jesuit.
It’s the moment that makes a difference.
It’s the key that separates victory from defeat, or leaves an indelible memory.
It’s the Play of the Day.
In this case, for Friday, Sept. 9, the Play of the Day came from Lakeridge senior quarterback Ryan Oliver in the Pacers’ 35-6 loss to Jesuit at Lakeridge High School.
With the Crusaders safely ahead of the Pacers 35-6 on the last play of the game, Oliver and the Pacers just kept battling. Facing a first-and-goal from the Jesuit 25-yard line with the game’s final seconds ticking down, Oliver dropped back to pass, then scrambled to extend the play under heavy pressure from Jesuit.
With the Crusaders closing in and Oliver forced to his left, he transferred the football to his left hand — Oliver is right-handed— and threw to freshman wide receiver Marcus Post in the left flat. Post caught the ball at the 20, turned upfield, broke a tackle and raced toward the end zone before finally being brought down on the 1-yard line with time expired.
