Mallory Ensing made the Play of the Day in the Pacers’ win over David Douglas.
It’s the moment that makes a difference.
It’s the key that separates victory from defeat, or leaves an indelible memory.
It’s the Play of the Day.
In this case, for Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Play of the Day came from Lakeridge sophomore midfielder/forward Mallory Ensing during the Pacers’ 2-0 win over David Douglas at Lakeridge High School.
While the Pacers dominated possession and shots on goal throughout the first half against the Scots, none of those shots had found the David Douglas goal.
But Ensing fixed that — and scored the game-winning goal — with 19:04 remaining in the half. Senior teammate Julia Mindt started the scoring play when she sent a long free kick into the Scots’ penalty box and Ensing ran onto it and redirected it home at the right post for what turned out to be the decisive goal.
