LO’s girls finish third, West Linn fifth in the Three Rivers League Preview at Clackamas Community College.
The Pacers were right there.
The Lakeridge girls cross country team, competing under sunny skies in the Three Rivers League Preview meet at Clackamas Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 7, battled the league’s best throughout the 5-kilometer race before eventually placing second behind Tigard.
The complete team scores included: Tigard 42, Lakeridge 52, Lake Oswego 72, St. Mary’s Academy 106, West Linn 128, Oregon City 138, Tualatin 145.
“I’m really proud of my team,” said Lakeridge junior Breckyn Kornachuk, who finished third overall with a time of 19 minutes, 40.93 seconds, trailing only event-winner Sadie Drucker of St. Mary’s and her 18:52.36 and Tigard’s Sabine Kim at 19:07.69. “There’s some girls who finished really strong and everybody powered through so that was really cool to watch.”
While she was proud of her team’s efforts, Kornachuk said she feels like she can still run faster.
“I was hoping for a little bit of a faster time, but it was pretty dry out there and you think the course is flat, but then when you’re running, there’s some sneaky little hills in there,” she said. “I’d love to go under 18 — that’s definitely a time goal — and I want to go to state.”
The rest of the Pacers’ top five finishers included freshman Grace Houlihan (fifth at 19:52.43), junior Olivia Smith (11th at 20:39.58), sophomore Sigrid Brakenhielm (15th at 20:59.12) and sophomore Rachel Fleck (18th at 21:03.84).

Likewise, Lake Oswego put together a strong team effort despite running without senior Kate Peters and sophomore Ana Peters. The Lakers got two top-10 finishes and landed four of their runners in the day’s top 16, led by sophomore Sofie Howard and her sixth-place finish at 19:58.22.
“I feel fantastic,” Howard said after the race. “I was going for 21: 20, but I got 19:50 something.”
After Howard, the rest of the Lakers’ top five included sophomore Noelle Plasse (10th at 20:34.63), sophomore Joelle Thompson (13th at 20:49.53), freshman Taylor Sheldon (16th at 21:03.44) and junior Sydney Lim (27th at 21:51.11).

For West Linn, senior Audrey Jacklyn led the way for the Lions with her 20th-place finish at 21:18.02.
“It was very exciting — it’s a nice course,” Jacklyn said. “It was nice to be back here instead of (Oregon City High School, which hosted the meet in 2021). I was hoping to break 21 minutes and I think I was a little over … but I felt like I pushed myself so it was a really fun race.”
The rest of the Lions’ top-five finishers were freshman Kendall Atwood (22nd at 21:27.31 ), freshman Violet Gowdy (24th at 21:39.94), sophomore Sabrina Noce (25th at 21:44.32) and senior Ava Sullivan (41st at 23:29.95).
Next up, the Pacers, Lakers and Lions run in the Meriwether CC Classic at Meriwether National Golf Course in Hillsboro at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
