The Pacers were 10th at state a year ago and should be good again in 2023.

Team: Lakeridge girls golf
Coach: Lisa Johnson
Team Leaders: Senior Julia Weidlich (she was 16th at regionals in 2022 and 72nd at state, senior Libby Emory, sophomore Jiyoon Pak (fourth at regionals in ‘22 and 24th at state), junior Amalie Odegaard (eighth at regionals in ‘22 and 54th at state), sophomore Eleanor Olsen and sophomore Addison Van Epps.
“Both Julia and Libby have proven to be strong senior leaders,” said Lakeridge’s first-year coach Lisa Johnson. “They are working hard at improving all aspects of their games and lead by example. Libby is a great driver of the golf ball (and) Julia has a beautiful swing and a fierce desire to compete.
Pak, Johnson said, “generates some fast clubhead speed and impresses with her shot-making abilities,” while “Amalie and Eleanor have steady demeanors and consistent games which not only contribute to the team score, but puts them in a good position on the leaderboard.”
League Race: Johnson said that she expects Lake Oswego’s experience should give it an edge in the 2023 Three Rivers League race, while West Linn should also be solid. Her Pacers — they were third in TRL play and 10th at state in ‘22 — ought to be competitive, too.
“The Three Rivers League is very competitive and we look to finish in the top three,” Johnson said. “Our keys to success will be showing continued improvement in all areas of the game, but especially putting, chipping and iron play. This team has a ton of talent and we are working diligently to help each player craft a more complete game.”
