Lakers will be led by Lia Komitor, Virginia Harmon, Riley O’Mara and Maddie Douglass.
Team: Lake Oswego softball
Coach: Chris Gobel
Team Leaders: Junior center fielder Lia Komitor, senior third baseman Virginia Harmon, senior second baseman Riley O’Mara and junior shortstop Maddie Douglass.
“(Our) best outfielder is Lia Komitor and it isn’t even close,” said Lake Oswego coach Chris Gobel. “She will be a first-team outfielder this year. … Defensively, she could (play) anywhere at the highest level.”
The Lakers have also been bolstered by Douglass’ return from injury.
She “has been out injured, but is back healthy. She has one of the strongest arms on our team,” Gobel said. “Both her and Virginia Harmon have strong and accurate arms.”
The Lineup: Pitchers — Senior Paris Richards, senior Ava Brenden. Catcher — Junior Camille Francis, sophomore Kate Stingle. First base — Brenden, sophomore Macy Maxwell. Second base — O’Mara, senior Marisol Karsonovich. Shortstop — Douglass. Third base — Harmon. Left field — Senior Kyla Zhang, Stingle. Center field — Komitor. Right field — Karsonovich, senior Maddie Herion.
Outlook: “It has been a strange start to this year with the poor weather — our team has practiced as a complete team only one time — (but) LO and Lakeridge should be competing for top spot as well.”
League Race: “Oregon City made it to the championship game last year and maybe graduated one or two from that team,” Gobel said. “But with this league, anyone could beat anyone and probably will.”
