West Linn football preps for TRL race
The Lions bring back a ton of talent for first-year coach Jon Eagle.
Big. Strong. Fast. Deep.
The West Linn football team — it shared the 2021 Three Rivers League title and advanced to the Class 6A state semifinals — seems to have it all.
Despite his team’s many obvious strengths, new head coach Jon Eagle — before coaching last year at Portland State, he led Camas High School in Washington for 13 years (including two big-school state championships) — is not about to preemptively crown his Lions.

Lake Oswego football beats Barlow 20-8
The Lakers struggle occasionally, but win easily in season opener.
Let’s be honest.
There were some reasons for concern in the Lake Oswego football team’s 20-8 season-opening win over Barlow at Lake Oswego High School on Thursday, Sept. 1.
The Lakers fumbled the ball each of the first two times they touched it. They came away empty on three trips deep into the Bruins’ red zone. They dropped two likely touchdown passes and saw Barlow outrush them by more than 100 yards.
As troubling as all that might be, Lake Oswego also racked up a 20-0 lead early in the third quarter, didn’t allow the Bruins to reach the scoreboard until just 23 seconds remained in the game and were never really threatened.

Lakeridge football ready to rock in 2022
The Pacers bring back a ton of proven talent and a couple solid transfers.
Make no mistake about it — the Lakeridge football team is going to be good in 2022.
The Pacers bring back all-league players at 10 positions from a team that battled its way into the Class 6A state quarterfinals a year ago.
But Lakeridge coach Spencer Phillips — knowing the incredible overall quality of the Three Rivers League — isn’t looking back. Instead, he’s focused on helping his team improve every day in the belief that’s what will reap the biggest rewards in 2022.
