The Pacers football team, after suffering two tough losses in a row, came back in style on Thursday, Sept. 22, routing Sunset 42-14 in non-league play at Sunset High School.

What happened the last time that West Linn football coach Jon Eagle’s team faced off against Lake Stevens, Washington? Answer: Vikings coach Tom Tri ran over Eagle’s dog in the parking lot.
Or what about this one — How great a host is the West Linn football team? So good that the Lions helped the Vikings start their 223-mile ride home early.
Whatever the motivation, West Linn (ranked third in the latest Class 6A coaches poll) absolutely devastated Lake Stevens (ranked first by Scorebook Live and fifth in the latest MaxPreps poll) on Friday, Sept. 23, leading by six touchdowns at the half and routing the Vikings 45-6 at West Linn High School.

It wasn’t always easy and it wasn’t always pretty, but the Lakeridge boys soccer team made sure that its Thursday, Sept. 22, game turned into a win.
The Pacers, playing in non-league action at Ida B. Wells High School, went scoreless for the first 54 minutes against the Guardians, but broke through for the night’s lone goal and walked off with a 1-0 victory.

Lakeridge volleyball rallies past Lake Oswego 3-1

The Pacers come from behind to win the first Battle of the Lake
The Lake Oswego volleyball team struck first.
The Lakers, playing crosstown rival Lakeridge in the twice-annual Battle of the Lake, shocked the Pacers with a 25-18 win in the first set of their match at Lakeridge High School on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
But while the Pacers got knocked down in that first set, they didn’t stay down. They rallied to win the next three sets — and the match — 3-1, posting a final score of 18-25, 25-9, 25-15 and 25-16.

The LO boys soccer team leads by a goal until the Guardians score late
This one left a bad taste in the Lakers’ mouths.
The Lake Oswego boys soccer team led Ida B. Wells by a goal late in their Tuesday, Sept. 20, contest at Lake Oswego High School, that after holding the upper hand in possession and chances throughout the game.
But Wells got the game-tying goal with 5 minutes, 37 seconds left on the clock and escaped with a 1-1 tie at LOHS.

Pacers’ Luke Loomis 10th, LO’s Leo Cook 13th at Meriwether CC Classic
The boys cross country teams from Lakeridge, West Linn and Lake Oswego were in the mix.
Running in a field of almost 30 teams in the Meriwether CC Classic in Hillsboro on Friday, Sept. 16, the Pacers and Lions both placed among the day’s top six, while the Lakers also finished in the top half of the field.
Lakeridge took fourth overall with 209 points — Central Catholic was first at 71, followed by Sunset’s 95 and Newberg’s 165 — while West Linn placed sixth at 239 and Lake Oswego 16th at 424.

The girls cross country teams from Lakeridge, Lake Oswego and West Linn showed up.
Battling a field of almost 30 teams in the Meriwether CC Classic in Hillsboro on Friday, Sept. 16, the Pacers, Lakers and Lions not only showed up, they stepped up and showed out.
Lakeridge took second overall with 122 points — trailing only event-winner Sunset’s 58 — while Lake Oswego placed third at 144 and West Linn fifth at 181.
Lakeridge football falls to Sherwood in shootout 47-35

The Pacers lead three times against the Bowmen but can’t hold on.
There’s never a wrong time to pick up a “W.”
But on the days you don’t, you better get something positive out of the “L.”
That’s what the Lakeridge football team did on Friday, Sept. 16, dropping a 47-35 non-league shootout at Sherwood High School, but getting better nonetheless.

Lake Oswego lost for the first time in a 24-7 loss to Mountainside on Friday, Sept. 16, Lakeridge fell for the second straight time in a 47-35 loss at Sherwood on Friday, while West Linn rolled past Jesuit 31-20 on Thursday, Sept. 15.
West Linn dance team brings its best

The West Linn dance team was ready, willing and able on Friday, Sept. 23.
The West Linn dancers, competing at halftime of the Lion football team’s 45-6 win over Lake Stevens, were every bit as good as their gridiron cohorts on Friday.
